What a difference two days make
2025. a quarter of a century since the new Millennium began. Some of us older ones remember the ‘hype’, the excitement and for a few the worry of what this new age was going to bring. In reality it was just a new number, another day, month, year in our lives, however any date that is significant can cause us to stop and think, to take stock of what we are doing with our lives! Apparently, our lives can be divided into 3 phases, 1) wanting things, 2) acquiring things, 3) getting rid of things!
Quite sobering really if that’s what it’s all about!? Now perhaps that’s where M10 comes into play! Instead of spending that second phase of lives acquiring things, wouldn’t it be better to acquire experiences and do good somewhere! The 10 days in Mexico spent by volunteers with M10 Missions gives just that.
Since 2009 just over 500 young people have gone on 12 trips and built more than 20 houses for homeless families, spent time ministering to people in rehab and refuge centres, played with children in orphanages, along with helping some desperate individuals living on the city tip. These volunteers return home with their own lives challenged and changed. Not only have they made such a difference to those living in Mexico they have made a difference to their own lives, they have a new perspective and seen the world through a different lens.
Better than things they have spent time and money on a rich and fulfilling experience. An experience for a lifetime! Not OF a lifetime but FOR a lifetime. The experience will be remembered by them forever and influence what they do and achieve in the future. They have changed for the better.
So back to 2025, a new group of 17- to 20-year-old young people have already started training and fundraising for this years up and coming trip, hopefully with lots of fun thrown in on their monthly meet ups. July 29th – August 8th is the date to look out for and if you’re reading this upset you’ve missed the chance for this year then look out for announcements for 2026 when the next trip to Ensenada, and a new mission trip to Mazatlán will be given out.
